⚖️ Temporary Importation Procedure (T.I.D)

Foreign residents can temporarily import their own vehicles into Korea without paying full import duties and taxes — as long as the vehicle will be re-exported after the visit.

In Korea, Temporary Import Declaration (T.I.D) is allowed for tourist’s own car like camping van.

💰 Customs Bond / Security Deposit

You must provide a security deposit (customs bond) equivalent to the estimated customs duties and VAT. This deposit will be fully refunded once the vehicle is re-exported and confirmed by Customs.

📄 Required Documents

  1. One copy of the vehicle registration certificate issued by the exporting country.
  2. One copy of the document certifying the provision of security (customs bond or deposit) equivalent to the customs duties and taxes.
    • If the security is provided by a guarantor organization, submit the guarantee letter issued by the guarantor organization.
  3. One copy of the motor vehicle insurance certificate.
    • (Exemption: vehicles under the Korea–China Combined Transport Agreement, designated vehicles, or towed vehicles manufactured solely for overland movement.)
